Instructor: Ann Lord
Instructor Bio: My aunt, an excellent seamstress, taught me to sew at the age of 12. I sewed clothes through my teens. When I started working, I could afford to buy clothes so I didn't sew much in my twenties. Instead, I knit, crocheted, did macrame, counted cross stitch etc. At 28, I learned to quilt. I made quilts for family members. I then made baby quilts and sold them to co-workers. After our son was born, I joined a group whose focus was having craft shows. I branched out to tree skirts, stockings, wall hangings, Advent Calendars and Barbie clothes. In the early 2000?s I took Home Dec classes ? drapes, valances, shades, slipcovers, pillows etc. I started working in a quilt shop in 2004 and my quilting really took off. I made many samples for the shop. I was able to attend Bernina University where I learned so much that I started teaching Owners classes and had a club for the top of the line owners. We were bought out by the Husqvarna Viking dealer down the street, except for the machines. In addition to making samples, I put together most of our kits. Under this owner, I learned a great deal about embroidery. When our 2 main teachers moved out of the area, I took over running Blocks of the Month and taught more embroidery classes. The most popular class that I taught was Beginning Quilting. I am always looking for new things to teach. Ann Lord
