| Instructor Bio: | My first encounter with sewing was when I used to play under my mom's feet when she was making Barbie doll clothes. These were not just your everyday Barbie clothes. She made lined suits for Ken and beautiful wedding gowns for Barbie. I can still see the green corduroy suit she made Ken with silk green lining. She taught my sisters and I how to sew, and I made my own formals as well. When our daughter was young, I would go to the Cinderella shop and see what the dresses looked like there and then get a pattern and make very frilly dresses, including pinafore, pantaloons, and frilly socks for Hillary. I did this until about age 7, and she said she did not want those anymore. I started to quilt about 30 years ago and purchased my first Bernina! I was hooked and have sewn with Bernina ever since. My mother was a hand quilter and very precise. She was very intrigued with the rotary cutters and rulers. I worked at Needles in a Haystack and taught classes there. I was so glad to find Zig Zag and have a quilting home there! |
