Join us to make this Piecekeeper Project Bag with zippered closure. Kits including the fabric and supplies needed to make the bag shown is included in the class fee. Once you have one, you'll want to make more! This is a great class for beginning sewers and those who might want to take a class with a friend or family member. This 3-hour class will result in one completed Project Bag. You do not need to bring anything!

| Instructor Bio: | Kathleen began sewing at age 10 in her first year of 4-H. She made her first quilt in 1978 when her husband and she acquired an 1844 log cabin in the McCordsville area as their first home. She was adamant that a Log Cabin Quilt would be the only bed covering that would be right. Expanding the interest and hobby led to her becoming the first Curator of Textiles at the Indiana State Museum and Historic Sites. In the early 1990's, she was Chairman of the Indiana Quilt Project. During that time, over 14,000 Indiana quilts were documented and photographed, culminating in "Indiana Quilts" published by IU Press. After organizing tours of the northern Indiana Amish community, she focused her quilt research on that community's influence on America's quilt culture. In 1993, she published "Amish Style" and began traveling to present an Amish quilt and cultural material exhibition and lecture series around the United States, Japan and England. While in Japan, she was able to meet and negotiate with that county's quilting community. In the 1990's she brought several Japanese quilt exhibitions to the United States, with Indianapolis always as the initial show venue. She has continued to quilt and sew throughout her career and she is enjoying quilting even more during her retirement. Her newest chapter, as the longarm specialist with Zig Zag Corner Quilts, is a continuation of a life-long love of quilts. |
